Hi-Tech Security System Health Check Checklist
Purpose: reusable checklist for the one-time Health Check offer and the monthly Hi-Tech Protection Plan.

1. Camera System Check
- Confirm each camera is online
- Confirm camera views still cover the intended areas
- Check for new blind spots caused by moved shelves, vehicles, signs, trees, furniture, or layout changes
- Check night/low-light view quality where possible
- Check camera lens for dirt, spiderwebs, moisture, or obstruction
- Confirm camera time/date are correct
- Confirm motion/event detection is working where applicable
- Note any outdated, blurry, damaged, or poorly placed cameras

2. Recorder / Storage Check
- Confirm DVR/NVR is powered and online
- Confirm all expected cameras are recording
- Confirm storage drive is healthy where visible
- Confirm estimated days of footage retention
- Confirm playback works from recent recordings
- Confirm time/date on recordings are correct
- Check for system error messages, beeping, or warnings
- Review whether storage is enough for current needs

3. Remote Viewing / App Check
- Confirm owner/manager can view cameras remotely
- Confirm app login still works
- Confirm phone/tablet app is updated enough to function
- Confirm remote viewing is not dependent on one former employee’s phone/account
- Check whether password/account recovery details are known
- Document who owns admin access

4. Alarm System Check
- Confirm alarm panel is powered and communicating where possible
- Check obvious sensor trouble/errors
- Review battery age/status if visible
- Confirm customer knows arm/disarm process
- Confirm emergency contacts/user list should be updated
- Review cellular/internet communication if applicable
- Recommend professional monitoring if the customer relies only on self-alerts

5. Access Control Check
- Review active users/codes/cards/fobs
- Remove or flag former employees/users
- Confirm door schedules still match business hours
- Confirm lock/unlock behavior is working as intended
- Check door hardware for obvious sticking/misalignment
- Confirm customer knows who has admin access
- Recommend monthly/quarterly user cleanup for businesses

6. Network / Wi-Fi Check
- Confirm cameras/security gear have stable network connection
- Check for messy/unlabeled network equipment
- Review router/switch/NVR location and power protection
- Note weak Wi-Fi/dead zones affecting cameras or apps
- Check if customer changed internet provider/router recently
- Recommend managed Wi-Fi/network support if outages affect security

7. Physical Install / Cleanliness Check
- Look for loose cables, exposed wire, water risk, or damaged connectors
- Check equipment rack/closet organization
- Confirm power supplies are secure and not overloaded
- Confirm outdoor equipment is weather-protected
- Identify sloppy or unsafe previous work worth cleaning up

8. Customer Risk Questions
Ask:
- Have you had any theft, break-ins, disputes, or suspicious activity recently?
- When was the last time you actually pulled footage successfully?
- Has your internet/router changed since the system was installed?
- Do any former employees still know alarm codes or have access cards?
- Are there any areas you wish you could see better?
- Do you want alerts, monitoring, or just recordings after the fact?
- Who is responsible for the system if something goes wrong?

9. Recommended Report Format
After the check, give the customer a simple summary:
- System status: Good / Needs Attention / Critical
